Insights from AEGLE’s participation in DATE2017 (Lausanne – March 2017)

AEGLE project had a strong presence in the Design Automation and Test in Europe (DATE 2017) held in Lausanne, Switzerland on March 27th-31st. DATE is the premier European event for electronic system design and test, an annual meeting point for international and European experts on ICT and systems’ design. AEGLE consortium, represented by Prof. Soudris (ICCS), participated in the DATE 2017 exhibition, as part of its Hipeac Roadshow activities, holding a dedicated exhibition booth as well as providing a talk focused on core technologies and technical challenges of AEGLE Big Data Infrastructure.

AEGLE presentation received very positive feedback concerning the system capability for resource efficiency under heavy workload diversity, as well as the ability to employ and exploiting accelerated analytics in healthcare. Additionally, interesting discussions on adopting AEGLE to more dynamic scenarios, e.g. integrating AEGLE cloud infrastructure with healthcare edge IoT system configurations have been discussed.

The AEGLE’s oral presentation took place in a session with other running H2020 projects, offering an excellent opportunity for exploring possible synergies, like a scientific cooperation with the EOT (Eyes-of-Internet) project, initiated during the event. Finally, the General Chair of DATE 2017 Prof. David Atienza from EPFL, and Dr. Dimitris Farmakis from Nefelus, USA, visited the AEGLE’s booth, in order to be informed thoroughly on the project.
